Week 5 Activity Check

Posted by: killkissmods

The Trial of Sorrow has concluded. Please check in by replying below with two separate threads from any of the Week 5 logs. These threads should be with two different characters and contain a minimum of 6 comments from you, totaling 15 comments overall.

In addition, we also ask that players provide a short writeup outlining your character's current mental and emotional state, as well as any important development beats you want to make note of. This should only be 2-3 sentences long and is just intended to keep the mods on top of where everyone's characters are at.

You may choose two memory regain from your list, to be regained IC on the Sunday morning following the trial. You also have another round of physical changes to their characters' Doll form to better reflect each character's individual journey towards rehabilitation. This should be in line with the changes everyone has received so far - something consequential but not a complete overnight change. If you're worried about the scope of anything you'd like to regain, feel free to check in with us first.

In either case, please make sure to note in your AC comment what you are regaining.

Deadline for AC submission is 12PM UTC, Wednesday May 20th. Failure to submit sufficient AC may result in your character being removed from the game.

All we ask for from the dead is an optional check-in.

Thank you!

comments

ROUND 1 TDM

Welcome to the official test drive for KiLLKiSS Round 1!

KiLLKiSS is a panfandom, memory loss murdergame drawing heavy inspiration from the in-universe lore of Ave Mujica – The Die is Cast. Characters awaken in a strange, dreamlike dollhouse world as the titular Dolls with no memory of who they truly are - not even their own names. Watched over by the distant, silent Loft Moon, the dolls are told that the only way to reclaim their memories and their humanity is through sacrifice. What form that sacrifice takes... well. You'll find out.

This TDM is here to let you poke at the tone and get a feel for whichever character(s) you might be interested in bringing to the game. Threads here are not canon but can be used as RP samples on your application. A list of preliminary locations are available for TDM purposes but feel free to expand on these as necessary for your threads.

If you've got questions, check out our main premise page and round specific FAQ. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask them in the comments below or reach out directly to the mods, Lilith or Claire.

PROMPTS

resurrectio

You wake up to velvet and dust and the quiet sense that something has gone very wrong. You're lying in a bed in what looks to be a carefully kept bedchamber, trimmed in muted and tired colours - blues, greys, mauves. Despite the dreary atmosphere, everything has been cleaned and polished to a mirror shine. Everything feels prepared. For you. For someone.

That's when it hits you: you don't know who that someone is. You don't remember a single thing. Even your name is gone. There's nothing to reach for when you try to remember it, as if it was never there to begin with. Worse still, there's something wrong with your face: a smooth black mask sits there, fitted perfectly and refusing to budge no matter how much you tug at it.

On the desk are two small, ornate brass keys. Each turns over in your palm with a satisfyingly heavy weight. Both are engraved with names. One of them feels... assigned. Not yours but yours for now, a borrowed thing you instinctively understand you're meant to answer to. The other clearly belongs to the second bed in the room.

So you're not alone. Maybe it's time to meet the person sharing your suite - and figure out where you are, why you're here and what exactly you've woken up as.

domesticus

You've met the others now - your fellow masked dolls and the smiling, mysterious Oblivionis. She has welcomed you to the masquerade and told you of your duty to offer sacrifices to the Loft Moon.

What could you possibly sacrifice when you don't even remember who you are? No past, no name, no attachments - nothing you could willingly give up. And yet, when you look at the other dolls gathered with you, masks hiding faces just like your own, you have a terrible feeling you already know the answer.

At the front of the entrance hall sits a large guestbook, its pages filled with neatly written entries. Inside are profiles - yours and everyone else's. You have no memories to confirm or deny what's written there. All you can do is read, wonder and maybe watch the others a little more closely.

Oblivionis offers no further answers. If you want to understand this place, the masquerade, or the Loft Moon watching silently above, you'll have to investigate on your own. Or… maybe you won't. Maybe you'll pass the days wandering the halls, talking with the other dolls, waiting to see who breaks first - and what the house will ask of you when it does.

admiratio

Every few days, you wake up to find a small stack of old bronze coins waiting neatly on your bedside table, as if someone set them there while you slept (or lay awake, staring at the ceiling). They're cold to the touch and don't seem to be in any currency you recognize, but it's not like that matters when there's nowhere you could spend them. … Or at least that's what you think until you pass through the courtyard.

Sat in the middle is a stone fountain endlessly gushing water so cold it steams in the air. If you happen to peer over the edge and to the bottom of the basin, you'll see it's littered with coins just like yours, almost like a wishing fountain. With nothing better to do with the things, you go ahead and follow suit by offering a few of your own.

However, when you toss one of your tokens into the fountain, it doesn't sink - instead, the water ripples violently and phantom hands surge up from the depths, pale and half-seen, snatching the coin before it can disappear. For a brief instant, the hands linger... and then they withdraw, leaving something behind in their place. Or maybe you've been lucky enough to be granted some tokens of the lives you - and the others - no longer remember? The fountain works in mysterious ways...

irritamentum

Just when the house starts to feel almost livable, Oblivionis speaks again and this time, it isn't an invitation. With a pleasant, detached air, your overseer announces that things have been far too quiet. And so, ever so helpfully, they've decided to provide a little encouragement.

The incentives are laid out plainly. In exchange for a sacrifice offered to the Loft Moon, Oblivionis offers an ultimatum - if the Dolls fail to deliver a death by the end of the week, something precious will be taken from them. Maybe it's a world you once called home. Maybe it's someone you loved - or will love again, if you're ever allowed to remember them. Or perhaps she favors the carrot instead; kill within the deadline and you will return to your world with memories restored and riches beyond your wildest imagination. Or perhaps a looming disaster will find itself averted. Or perhaps you'll reunite with someone who was once precious to you but was beyond your reach even before your memories were taken.

Images press at the edges of your mind: people you can't name but somehow know matter. Promises of power, wealth, safety, absolution. Or the threat of secrets dragged into the light - things you don't remember doing but are suddenly certain you'd do anything to keep buried.

Oblivionis leaves you with the question and nothing else; Would you kill for it?

cognitio

Despite your hopes it seems someone has taken Oblivionis at her word. The House feels different this morning and it doesn't take long to find the source. One of your own lies broken beyond repair, their body twisted and wrong, porcelain skin split with spiderweb cracks or shattered outright. Their eyes stare glassy and unfocused, reflecting nothing. There's no blood but what's been done to them is unmistakable nonetheless.

You barely have time to process it or even to fully register the sickening truth that one of you did this before Oblivionis' voice cuts cleanly through the House, echoing from nowhere and everywhere at once. The rules are restated. The deadline is set. You are ordered to investigate.

So you do. What other choice do you have?

You search the rooms, retrace your steps, examine the damage and gather what little evidence this place is willing to give up. You piece together what's been left behind - sometimes literally - and start to form the story of what happened here. One of the Dolls here killed one of their fellows and you only have until Oblivionis calls you to trial to investigate and identify exactly who it was.

damnatio

There's no avoiding it now. You're led down into the trial grounds - an immense courthouse that rises like a cathedral. At its center waits a ring of podiums arranged in a perfect circle. No benches. No gallery. Just you, the others and Oblivionis presiding from above, the role of judge fitting her far too well.

She explains the rules with unsettling calm. Lay out your evidence. Pick apart each contradiction. Decide who among you is the killer and cast your votes accordingly. But be careful - if the majority is wrong, everyone pays for it. Execution in place of the true culprit.

You're told this is a collective effort. You must work together. Find the truth.

Easier said than done.

Maybe someone's already breaking, ready to confess under the weight of it all. Maybe you've been circling the wrong suspect for hours, chasing a theory that feels good instead of one that's right. Or maybe you're the one with blood on your hands, standing perfectly still and praying no one notices how tightly you're gripping the edge of your podium.

When the time comes to vote, there's no taking it back.

monumentum

You survived the trial. You're still here. That should feel like a victory, but it's hard to celebrate when there are fewer voices in the halls than there were yesterday. Oblivionis is nowhere to be found and you and the other dolls are left to pick up the pieces on your own. Maybe now is the time to let out the tension of the trial - to talk, to argue, to sit together in silence. Maybe you gather in a common room, light candles, say names out loud so they don't disappear. Maybe you don't have the words for a memorial and settle instead for shared silence, warm drinks, or the simple comfort of sitting close enough to know you're not alone.

Then something shifts. Somewhere between the trial grounds and the House, the Loft Moon has noticed you. Without ceremony, without warning, something is given back. A memory slips back into place with startling clarity - undeniably yours, even if you still don't know anything about yourself. Along with it comes a change in your body. Maybe taste blooms on your tongue for the first time. Maybe you can smell the air, feel hunger twist in your stomach, or flinch when something hurts.

A gift from the Loft Moon. It's overwhelming and sudden. But you're not alone with it. The others are here too, dealing with their own gifts and taking this shaky step towards humanity right alongside you.
